Galina Benevich's engagements in the 2022/23 season included the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor for the Landestheater Coburg, Gilda in Rigoletto with Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach, and a reprise of the role of Fiordiligi with Theater Kiel in Mozart's Così fan tutte. She also appeared with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie for the New Year concert series. The 2023/24 season was marked by Galina's debut in Don Giovanni as Donna Anna, alongside performances with the Bergische Philharmonie, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, and Jenaer Philharmonie, as well as reprising the role of Musetta with Haydn Fondazione Stiftung at Theater Trento and Bolzano. Her upcoming roles include:Theres (Elsbeth) in Offenbach’s Fantasio, Gabriel/Eva in Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, the Queen of the Night, and Prince Go-Go, all at Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where she has been an ensemble member since the 2024/25 season. Her previous highlights include her debut with Landestheater Coburg as Fiordiligi (season 2021/2022) and also her debut in the title role in Handel's Alcina, as well as Anne Trulove in Stravinsky's The Rake’s Progress. The 2021/2022 season also marked Galina's house debuts as the Queen of the Night in Switzerland at Theater Basel and in France at Opéra de Rouen Normandie. She also returned to Fiordiligi with Thüringer Schlossfestspiele Sondershausen (Theater Nordhausen) in July 2022. Benevich made her UK debut as the Queen of the Night at the Glyndebourne Festival in 2019. She has also performed the role at Theater Bremen during the 2019/2020 season. In the same season, she debuted at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and at the State Opera Hamburg, singing Clorinda in La Cenerentola. In the 2020/2021 season, she made her debut as Fiorilla in Rossini's Il Turco in Italia at a summer festival in the UK. From 2017 to 2019, Galina was an ensemble member of Wrocław Opera in Poland, where she performed roles such as Olympia in Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann, Giulietta in Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème, and Cunegonde, among others. Galina was born in 1991 into an opera singer family in Russia and emigrated to Israel in 2014. Since 2021, she has been living in Germany. She is a graduate of the Young Artists Program of the Israeli Opera and a bursary recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation (AICF). She is a winner of several international competitions, including the International Georg Ots Music Festival and Competition in Saint Petersburg and the Mario Lanza Competition in Italy. Galina studied with Anna Skibinsky in Israel and participated in masterclasses with Renata Scotto, Mariella Devia, Daniel Ettinger, Giulio Zappa, and Stefania Bonfadelli.
